What a wedding in Baku involves
A toy (wedding) in Baku is usually several events in a row: the nishan (engagement), the khina (henna night) and the wedding itself. Each has its own to-do list and its own deadlines. The wedding palace (şadlıq sarayı) is booked first, six months ahead or earlier; the toastmaster (host), music and photographer come next; invitations go out a month before, and the seating chart is finalised in the last week. When everything lives in a notebook and chat threads, it is easy to forget a deposit or seat relatives at the wrong table. Tables are placed on the floor plan and guests are dragged to their seats. It is easy to seat older relatives near the stage and friends next to each other. You can print the finished chart and hand it to the restaurant manager.
